Folly Beach (Charleston) Hotel?

EricTheRed's picture

We're headed to Folly Beach near Charleston, SC soon. Any recommendations on hotels would be appreciated. We'd like something nice, but we're not exactly loaded, so give price some consideration.

We'll certainly be eating at the Dolphin Deli and checking out the lighthouse per Rose's earlier recommendation. I think we're too old for the surfing, Johnny T.

Hotels?

The only hotel on Folly is the Holiday Inn. It is a nice place right on the beach with a cool little Tiki Bar and nice pool. We always rent a house when we go to Folly. Folly is more like a little local beach town and not terribly commercialized (thats why I like it there). You can google folly beach rentals and get a bunch of options. Hope this helps.

I think that's right... Only one hotel, but i have stayed in it and it's nice. Clean. Not terribly expensive. Oceanfront.

Here's the website, if I'm not mistaken: http://www.charlestononthebeach.com/

Seriously though, if you've got time, rent a house. Usually by this late in the season you can find some owners who will let you rent by the night (in case you're not staying a week). You can find some that are close to the price of staying at a hotel. In the past, we've been able to call and rent places within a few days of staying there. I'm sure it depends on the owner, but it's worth a try... 'er a few phone calls anyway.

I can't wait to hear what you think of Folly! Some love it and some don't. It's on my top 5 list for beaches.

So how would I go about finding one of these houses for rent? I can search google as easy as you guys can, but I didn't know if there were some sites/agencies that you guys already know about.

Thanks!

The Holiday Inn was nice. Good service. Keep in mind that I don't have extremely high standards in hotels. Unless they have thin walls.

It's right next to the pier and is about as easy to find as it can be. It's at the one main intersection right in front of you as you drive into Folly. Pool was small though and not extremely warm when we were there in early September. All rooms are ocean view. You can watch the surfers all day long from your room. And there were plenty of surfers.

I'll post a review of Folly Beach itself and try to come back here and link to it.
